Aloft South Beach marks topping off

Construction of the 235-room Aloft South Beach, set to open in early 2015, reached a key point Friday.

A ceremony Friday morning marked the topping off of the building, which incorporates the old Motel Ankara and includes a new eight-story tower.

The hotel at 2360 Collins Ave. is being developed by JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures. The cost of the project has not been disclosed.
