Ferry service between Miami and Freeport in The Bahamas is back in business on Nov. 9.

Miami-based FRS Caribbean will begin offering the direct ferry service on its San Gwann ferry on Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays between PortMiami and Freeport Harbour. The 400-passenger San Gwann takes the place of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s Grand Celebration, a 1,900-passenger ship from the Deerfield Beach-based line that is being chartered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to house first responders in St. Thomas through Dec. 23.

The San Gwann will depart from Miami at 8 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays and arrive in Freeport at about 11:15 a.m. On Saturdays, the vessel will stop in Bimini first before traveling to Freeport. The ship, which originally took passengers to Bimini, will resume that service when the Grand Celebration returns to Freeport.
