The Friday sale of a modern Hibiscus Island home has broken a record for the upscale Miami Beach neighborhood with a price tag of $13.6 million.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom contemporary home at 151 N. Hibiscus Drive is the most expensive new property to be sold on the 70-acre island, according to developer AquaBlue Group. David Pobiak, of Beachfront Realty, represented the buyer, who is a Brazilian businessman moving to Miami Beach, but who wishes to remain anonymous.

Miami-based firm Borges + Associates Architects designed the cube-shaped property, which features 6,913 square feet of living space, an infinity-edge pool, a rooftop deck, and a floating glass stairway. Of course, the homeowner will also be able to take the elevator between the building’s two floors.

Julian Johnston, of Calibre International Realty, brokered the sale.
