This $25M Pinecrest listing has a putting green and a 70-foot pool. Take a look
When Julian Johnston began his real estate career in Miami more than 25 years ago, he never would have expected to list a home in Pinecrest for $25 million.
But that’s how much the Corcoran Group real estate agent is asking for a house he just listed in the South Miami-Dade town. He said Pinecrest, east of Kendall, has transformed from an affluent, but sleepy, community into a luxury real estate destination.
And this seven-bedroom home, the most expensive ever listed in Pinecrest, is definitely targeting a luxury buyer. The house at 6701 SW 101st St., spans more than 11,000 square feet and is set on more than an acre of land. Amenities include a putting green with a sand trap and a 70-foot-long pool outfitted with tile imported from Indonesia.
Johnston broke the previous home price record in Pinecrest last year with a home that sold for $19.5 million. He said that the neighborhood has begun to attract wealthy buyers looking for more space than is typically available in Miami Beach, Coconut Grove or Coral Gables. He said Pinecrest appeals especially to families looking for sprawling compounds.
“If you want amenities on the property, where your kids can come and play safely,” Johnston said, “that’s one of the desirable things about Pinecrest.”
The fact that trendy chain restaurants like Pura Vida and Avo are opening locations in and around Pinecrest seems to signal that the area is becoming more in demand, Johnston said.
But for the extra space you can get in Pinecrest, you get a longer commute into the city. During rush hours, the drive to downtown Miami may take you nearly an hour and a half.
Johnston thinks he’ll continue seeing luxury homes being built in Pinecrest, which is home to just under 20,000 people. He expects to see older homes in the area, some of which date back to the 1940s, being torn down and replaced with tropical modern-style homes, like the one he just listed.
Buyers in Miami have high expectations when it comes to luxury homes, Johnston said. He thinks buyers have become more discerning in recent years when it comes to the details and finishes in their homes.
“People do expect really good quality these days, and they appreciate it, and they’re willing to pay for it,” Johnston said. “I think we’ll see more of these homes in the future.”
