Meta billionaire Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are buying a waterfront mansion in Indian Creek, according to the Wall Street Journal.

It isn’t clear whether the deal has closed or what Zuckerberg and Chan are expected to pay for the nearly 2-acre property situated along Biscayne Bay, although local real estate agents have estimated the property likely sold for $150 million to $200 million, the WSJ reported Monday.

Indian Creek, an exclusive gated community on a manmade island off Miami Beach, has been dubbed the “Billionaire Bunker.” It’s already home to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and billionaire investor Carl Icahn, as well as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

Zuckerberg is the latest in a string of Silicon Valley billionaires to buy a home in South Florida. Google co-founder Larry Page recently bought over $170 million worth of property in Coconut Grove, and Google’s other co-founder, Sergey Brin, has reportedly purchased a house on Allison Island off Miami Beach near La Gorce Island.

This trend comes on the heels of a controversial billionaire tax proposed in California. The proposal, put forward by a union representing healthcare workers, would levy a 5% total wealth tax on California residents worth $1 billion or more.

Nancy Batchelor, a Miami Beach real estate agent who specializes in high-end properties, said she’s seen a surge of interest from ultra-wealthy buyers looking to leave California in recent weeks. She said many have pointed to the proposed tax as their motivation for moving.

Batchelor said she thinks once a few billionaires move to Miami, it will encourage others to do the same.

“It’s a big fraternity,” Batchelor told the Miami Herald in a text following the news about Zuckerberg’s purchase. “They all want to be part of this exclusive Miami club.”
