MSC Cruises, along with its luxury sister company Explora Journeys, has a new headquarters in Miami for its growing North American market

MSC Group’s new North American headquarters for its cruise division is off Interstate 95 near downtown Miami — and although employees have been working from the new Overtown office for several weeks, they celebrated a ribbon cutting on Monday.

The newly remodeled 130,000-square-foot office space will accommodate at least 400 employees from MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, as well as CTL Maritime, which develops port infrastructure, and MSC, the company’s cargo shipping division.

The new location puts the company closer to PortMiami downtown and will bring employees from the company’s cargo and cruise divisions together under one roof, said Rubén Rodríguez, CEO of the company’s North American cruise division.

Rodríguez told the Miami Herald that the company is ramping up to require employees to be in the office four days a week, and he believes the new office space will promote in-person collaboration.

Rodríguez said the cruise industry has seen “remarkable recovery” following the pandemic and had its strongest year ever in 2025. The company is “investing heavily in North America,” he added.

Previously, the company had offices across the region, including in Doral, Brickell and Fort Lauderdale. Some employees will continue to work out of the Fort Lauderdale office, Rodríguez said. But the majority will be working from the new office in Miami. The Brickell office, which was in the WeWork building, has closed, and the cargo team in Doral has completely relocated to the new office, Field Sutton, a spokesperson for MSC Cruises, told the Herald.

The office is in Block 55 at Sawyer’s Walk, a mixed-use development with retail, office space and affordable senior housing. The company collaborated with Swerdlow Group, the developer behind Block 55 at Sawyer’s Walk.

MSC Group purchased the seventh floor of the building in 2024 and has since turned it into a shiny, new office space with the help of the prolific Miami architecture firm Arquitectonica. The office features an open-air breeze way with views of downtown Miami.

MSC Group is a European company with its global headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Group’s executive chairman, flew in for the event. He called Miami a “strategic location” for MSC Group because of its major port that serves as a hub for both passenger and cargo ships.

“This is not just the cruise capital of the world,” Vago said during his remarks on Monday. “It is a global crossroads for talent, infrastructure and international commerce.”

Monday’s ribbon cutting drew hundreds to the new office, including Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami City Commissioner Christine King. The office is located in District 5, which King represents.

Higgins, Levine Cava and King all spoke on Monday, praising MSC Group’s decision to come to Miami.

“We could not be more grateful,” Levina Cava said, “that you chose us for this venture.”
