Someone just bought Rosie O’Donnell’s old mansion on Miami’s Star Island. Who?
Talk about your big deals.
Long before Rosie O’Donnell fled to Ireland to escape the U.S. government and connect with her roots, the comedian once lived in South Florida.
From 1999 to 2003, O’Donnell owned a massive estate on Star Island, the Miami Beach enclave whose celeb residents include the Estefans, Rick Ross and fallen music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The New York native, 63, acquired the Mediterranean style home for nearly $6.8 million from a religious organization founded in Jamaica in the 1940s known as the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church, as per The Robb Report. The place went on the market soon after “The Rosie Show” on Oprah’s TV network was canceled.
O’Donnell ended up selling it to the late Dr. David Frankel and his wife, arts patron Linda (journalist Diane Sawyer’s sister) for $16.5 million
Built in 1923, the 11,104-square-foot, eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom home includes 200 feet of water frontage, two guest houses, bean-shaped pool, rooftop terrace, lush, tropical landscaping and killer views.
In one of the biggest luxury deals of the summer, the storied waterfront property at 43 Star Island Drive is being snapped up again.
The sprawling gem has been purchased from the Frankel family for a cool $35.3 million by billionaire Russell Weiner, founder of Rockstar Energy drinks.
Compass agent Liz Hogan represented both the seller and buyer in the transaction, the Miami Herald was told.
Weiner, who sold Rockstar Energy to PepsiCo for $3.9 billion in 2020, reportedly has plans to expand and renovate the already plush digs, adding amenities like a spa, gym, cabana and padel court.
If you see the businessman around, be sure to give him a warm welcome. Maybe he’ll invite you over.
