Miami Design district to welcome a famous designer’s first Florida boutique
Beyoncé, Blake Lively, Rihanna and former first lady Michelle Obama are among the celebrity fans of designer Manolo Blahnik’s shoes.
Singer Rihanna, who opened her first Savage X Fenty lingerie and loungewear boutique in Florida at downtown’s Miami Worldcenter in the fall, even entered into a capsule footwear collection partnership with the designer, according to Footwear News.
The celebs — and you — will soon have the opportunity to shop Manolo Blahnik’s new standalone store opening in March in Miami’s Design District.
The boutique will be Manolo Blahnik’s first Florida store and only the third in the United States. The other two out of 20 worldwide are the U.S. flagship on Madison Avenue in New York and a store in East Hampton. The chain’s flagship London store in the Chelsea district, as well as stores in Paris, Shanghai and Hong Kong, also are open for business.
Manolo Blahnik designer shoes, whose new and classic collections run from around $800 to over $1,300 a pair and which were famously featured on HBO’s “Sex in the City” series, are also sold at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.
The new boutique Miami store in the Design District was designed by British architect Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design. The look, which has yet to be publicly revealed, is said to sport a geometric façade “circular motif” inspired by Art Deco and European artist Josef Hoffmann. According to the company, the Miami location will showcase 13 exclusive shoes in six silhouettes from the Spring 2025 collection.
Among the coming capsules, which can mix and match to accentuate various outfits, are the MAYSALE, a kitten-heeled mule initially created for Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring 1991 fashion show. This Miami edition is “reimagined in a playful pink suede for the occasion.” The CHAOS, introduced in 2013 as a departure from the thicker heels and heavier silhouettes of the time, is to feature navy blue nappa leather and a coordinating gingham toe strap.
“The energy of Miami is fantastic; the people and the place are so welcoming,” Blahnik, now 82, said in a statement. “I stayed at the Miami Beach EDITION for a period of time in the early 2000s and thought it was wonderful. The music and madness of Miami is really like no other place on earth; the Latin American Cuban influence is omnipresent which I just adore.
“I wanted to open my store in the Design District, because the area is full of beauty, the sculpture-filled plazas and striking architecture make it such a unique and dynamic place. There is so much focus on design and craftsmanship in the area, it is the perfect place to open a boutique,” Blahnik said.
The de la Cruz Collection was one of the Miami Design District’s chief attractions at 23 NE 41st St. The museum was owned by Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz and housed their art collection that they shared with the public free of charge from 2009 until 2024. The museum was permanently closed after founder Rosa de la Cruz’s death in February 2024.
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, acquired the former site of the de la Cruz Collection that was next door in October to double its size.

Manolo Blahnik has not released the address of its coming boutique that, the company said, will be centrally located within the Design District.
“I am thrilled to be opening our newest boutique and our third in the United States, in Miami,” said Blahnik’s niece, company CEO Kristina Blahnik, in a statement. “The energy that radiates from the city is truly unmatched, and it has long been a dream of ours to be a part of this vibrant community. We look forward to welcoming new clients and loyal customers alike to our new home in the Design District.”
