Six new stores recently made their South Florida debut at Sunrise’s Sawgrass Mills vast outlet shopping mall, and more are expected this year.

The newcomers, according to a statement from the mall, include: clothing store Psycho Bunny; Dutch denim-focused label G-Star RAW; London-based handbags and accessories chain Radley London; khaki clothing brand Dockers; Citizen Watch company store; and Italian family-owned gelato company Lucciano’s Il Maestro Del Gelato.

Each of those retailers opened in the second half of 2022 in the main part of Sawgrass Mills, separate from the 70-plus luxury retail section called The Colonnade Outlets.

A Sawgrass Mills representative on Thursday declined to be interviewed for this article, and didn’t promptly provide the names of additional retailers expected to open in the coming months.

The mall in Broward County opened 33 years ago and today has over 360 shops. The luxury outlet stores at The Colonnade include well-known names like Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Versace. With its 2.4 million square feet of retail, it is considered the second-largest mall in South Florida, after Aventura Mall, and among the 15 largest in the country.

Although many retailers are expanding with more stores, others like Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy’s are closing stores. Economists predict road bumps for retailers in 2023 given inflation, increasing interest rates and the potential of a recession.
