Homestead residents getting a new home furnishing store soon. Here’s what’s coming
Homestead residents sprucing up their home interiors are in luck. HomeGoods plans to open a store in their backyard soon.
A 23,500-square-foot HomeGoods store will open Jan. 19 at 915 N. Homestead Blvd., down the street from the Coral Castle landmark. The store will employ 65 full- and part-time workers from the community. The store opening brings another retailer to an area bustling with new development and price-conscious homebuyers.
The new location will be the chain’s sixth store in Miami-Dade County. HomeGoods, the national home furnishings chain, is owned by TJX Companies which also owns TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores. HomeGoods has standalone stores or split spaces with TJ Maxx and Marshalls in Midtown Miami, Kendall, Aventura, North Miami Beach and Sweetwater.
Contacted Monday by a Miami Herald reporter, a HomeGoods representative declined to comment on the Homestead store and referred the reporter to a press release about the pending opening.
Homestead’s downtown area has experienced a wave of change starting in 2019. Since then, the community has been growing with new commercial development that has lured locals and visitors. It’s a Miami agricultural suburb that has long attracted developers looking to build more affordable homes. Most recently, the Miami-Dade commission approved turning farmland in the city into a new commercial project.
