‘Be different, be bold’: Miami real estate agent mixes music and home selling
Jonathan Vega, a Sotheby’s International Realty agent in Miami, wanted to separate himself from the pack of real estate agents.
So he decided to start writing and singing songs about Miami neighborhoods, hoping that would catch the attention of potential homebuyers and they would turn to him to help them find their dream houses.
“Be different, be bold, get out of your comfort zone and figure out things that have never been done,” said Vega, 25, about how making music hopefully allows him to stand out. ”In Miami there are 50,000 real estate agents. Everybody knows a real estate agent. But what I’m trying to do makes me different.”
Vega’s first song is all about Pinecrest and what it offers people in terms of schools, parks and shopping, among other things. The agent who jumped into real estate when he was 18 plans to do his next tune on South Beach.
Daniela Rodriguez, a community manager for advertising and marketing firm the Grey Group in Miami, thinks a real estate agent singing songs to connect with an audience aligns with social media trends.
Rodriguez, 31, said that Vega’s nearly 1,500 YouTube views on his Pinecrest rendition is a positive sign for someone with 4,000 subscribers on that platform.
“In the era of trending songs and dances getting popular, a singing real estate agent is interesting and also not a bad idea,” she said. “Instead of just being a Floridian real estate agent, he’ll be known as the Floridian singing real estate agent, which will help him stand out.”
