Developer plans to build 225 homes in Tamarac
Developer Central Communities announced Thursday that it paid $7.1 million for 33 acres of land in Tamarac and plans to build 225 homes on the in-fill site.
The new project is zoned for 161 townhouses and 64 single-family homes, according to a spokeswoman for 13th Floor Investments, which owns Central Communities. The pricing will start in the mid-$200,000s, but that could change by the time sales begin next year.
The site is on Monterey Drive, south of Commercial Boulevard and immediately east of the Florida Turnpike, next to another Central Communities development called Central Parc. The recovering housing market and the desire of homeowners to cut down on their commutes should help sales, according to the developer.
“As homebuyers increasingly come off the sidelines, they will continue to seek new homes close to city centers,” Michael Nunziata, president of Central Communities, said in a statement. “This most recent acquisition was a natural extension as we continue to meet this strong pent up demand for quality built new homes at attainable prices.”
Amenities will include a cabana and pool facility and a walking trail.
