Brickell City Centre — a massive, $1.05 billion, mixed-use development — is now 80 percent complete, developer Swire Properties said on a tour of the construction site Monday.
About 2,400 workers have been putting in shifts around-the-clock to build the project’s hotel, condo towers, office buildings and a 500,000-square-foot, open-air, luxury mall equipped with a $30 million “climate ribbon” to cool down shoppers.
“We’re getting close,” said Stephen Owens, president of Swire Properties.
The residential components of the project — about 1,130 luxury condos, hotel room and apartments — will be completed in stages by the end of this year and in the first quarter of 2016. The shopping center, which will be anchored by a Saks Fifth Avenue and the luxury movie theater Cinemex, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016.
The 5.4-million-square-foot complex is located between Southeast Sixth Street and Southeast Eighth Street on South Miami Avenue.
