Florida extends 2019 county property tax deadlines in wake of coronavirus economic hit
If you’re a Florida property owner who hasn’t paid your 2019 property tax and were sweating about Tuesday’s deadline, you’ve got a little more time.
Florida Department of Revenue Executive Director Jim Zingale issued an emergency order Thursday that extends the usual real estate property tax deadline from March 31 to April 15. Property taxes paid on railroad, railroad terminal, private car and freight line and equipment company property, usually due April 1, are now also due on April 15.
Once Gov. Ron DeSantis declared Florida in a state of emergency on March 9 as coronavirus-caused COVID-19 spread, Zingale had the freedom to extend the deadline.
Real estate owners with more questions should contact their specific counties. Railroad and private car line companies with questions can email DORPTO@floridarevenue.com.
