In Miami, the art of Beatriz Milhazes fills museum, condo

Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes is in the Miami spotlight this week as her solo goes up at the Perez Art Museum Miami and a Key Biscayne condo featuring her work is completed.

Here, a worker completes installation of a Milhazes mural at the 146-unit Oceana Key Biscayne condo project, on the site of the former Sonesta Key Biscayne Hotel, was developed by Argentinian Eduardo Costantini, founder of Consultatio Real Estate and a long-time collector of Bilhaezes’ work; he also created the MALBA museum in Buenos Aires dedicated to 20th and 21st century Latin American art. The Consulatio’s second project, in Bal Harbour, features work by artist Jeff Koons.

Milhaez is in Miami this week for her first major U.S. retrospective, Beatriz Milhaes: Jardim Botanico at PAMM, which opens Thursday and runs through Jan. 11, 2015. The artist will talk about her work Saturday at 2 p.m. Info: pamm.org.
