Charities, businesses ponder Wade-less future
Dwyane Wade generated a lot of money in South Florida – and not just putting ticket-buying fans in seats.
As the Miami Heat figures out how to fill the void left by his move to Chicago, local charities and businesses that have depended for years on the superstar's financial support are left to wonder what a Wade-less future holds.
Wade divided his philanthropy between his native Chicago and his transplanted home here, and while he is a spokesman for numerous national brands, local consumers have known him since 2010 as the face of luxury car dealer The Collection.
Still absorbing the news of his departure on Thursday, spokespeople for organizations that benefited from Wade's presence here said they're not sure what will happen next, but they appreciate his generosity.
