Culinary tours bolster PB County’s tourism menu

The Chesterfield Hotel in Palm Beach is known for its posh location and historic charm, but for tour guide Lori Durante, the hotel’s food is the real draw.

The 53-room hotel, located just blocks from the Worth Avenue shopping district, is one of the newest stops on Durante’s Taste History Culinary Tours program, which offers tourists a way to sample some of Palm Beach County’s most unique eateries while also learning about the history of the area. The lunchtime tours include stops at roughly a half-dozen locally owned restaurants, bakeries, arts shops and cultural centers in a variety of cities, including Lake Worth, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and West Palm Beach.

“We showcase culture through the history of area, through the food, and how those foods have become a part of the culinary landscape,” Durante said. The tour is designed to take you off the beaten path.”
