MIA sees record year with 40.9 million passengers
Last year saw a record number of passengers trek through Miami International Airport.
Passenger traffic reached more than 40.9 million in 2014, an increase of nearly 380,000 from the year before. Last year was the fifth record-breaking year in a row for MIA.
Airport officials said the addition of new airlines such as Qatar Airways and routes including Doha, Brussels and Helsinki helped fuel the increase.
Cargo traffic, at 2.2 million tons, also set a record in 2014. Last year’s number was 55,000 tons higher than the total in 2013.
