Sale of former Canyon Ranch closes, name changed

The sale of the former Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa has closed, the new owner announced Wednesday.

Z Capital Partners, a private equity firm that bought the Miami Beach property for $21.6 million, said the name of the resort is now the Carillon Hotel & Spa.

A new joint venture formed by Z Capital in partnership with Adrian Zecha, founder of Amanresorts and GHM Hotels, and Jonathan Breene, who developed the Setai in South Beach, will manage the property.

The team will launch a new five-star brand later this year that will include destinations around the globe, with the Carillon Hotel as its first location. The all-suite condo hotel at 6801 Collins Ave. has 150 condominium units that can be booked as hotel rooms.

In a press release, Z Capital said it plans to “significantly enhance” the hotel’s spa, fitness programs and restaurants. The new ownership group has asked current employees and instructors to keep working at the hotel, subject to background verifications.
