Gas prices on the rise in South Florida

South Florida gas prices, dropping like the gas gauge needle on a 1974 Electra 225, bounced up 5.4 cents per gallon last week to $1.87, according to GasBuddy's weekly survey of prices at 1,690 area stations.

Of course, that's an average. Savvy consumers know stations where prices remained the same or dropped (we see you, Little Havana!).

Nationally, GasBuddy’s survey said gas prices rose 6.8 cents per gallon to $1.81.

Analysts expect prices to continue to rise, and be up 30 to 50 cents a gallon by Memorial Day weekend in May.
