All are invited to contribute ideas to improve transit and mobility in Miami as part of a weeklong 100 Great Ideas social media campaign. Contribute your idea on Facebook through the 100 Great Ideas public group or use the hashtag #100greatideas on Twitter. The ideas, big and small, will be synthesized into a report and shared with public officials and community leaders. Ten idea-sharers will be invited to a conversation with local decision makers.
Previous 100 Great Ideas campaigns started by Rebecca Fishman-Lipsey of Radical Partners, a social innovation accelerator, looked for ideas to improve libraries and the airport and netted hundreds of submissions. Some ideas submitted so far, compiled by The New Tropic, include farmer’s markets at MetroRail stops, offering more incentives for using public transit, scaling the bus system but also improving usability with better maps, signage, apps with more reliable GPS tracking, etc., and asking government officials to use public transit for a month before making transit decisions.
