WSVN and U-verse reach agreement, end blackout
The long, hard wait for U-verse subscribers longing to catch up with the X-Files reboot is over.
Twenty-six days after WSVN-Fox 7 abruptly yanked its signal from U-verse, parent companies AT&T and Sunbeam Television have reached an agreement over rebroadcasting fees. The channel is now available again.
No details were provided about the deal.
“We are happy that we have come to an agreement with AT&T,” said WSVN general manager Chris Wayland. “We are excited that our viewers will be able to have access to all of our programming.”
In an e-mail, AT&T spokeswoman Kelly Starling stated “We appreciate our customers’ patience while we sought to resolve this matter as quickly and reasonably as possible.”
U-verse subscribers were forced to make do without WSVN since Jan. 16 — one day before the channel aired the NFL playoff game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers.
