Need help on your taxes?

Miami Dade College is offering free tax prep for low-income individuals, the elderly and non-English speakers who live in Miami-Dade County starting Feb. 1. MDC School of Business faculty and students will be available at the college’s Hialeah, Homestead, InterAmerican, Kendall, North and Wolfson campuses until the federal tax filing deadline on April 18.

Hours and dates vary by location so be sure to check online: http://www.mdc.edu/main/business/aboutus/VITA.aspx

The college says those interested in receiving help will need to bring their social security card and social security cards of any dependents to be claimed; picture I.D.; W-2 earnings statement; 1099 MISC (for self-employed only); 1099 INT (interest income); and any documents pertaining to expenses claimed.

MDC launched its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program 22 years ago. Last year, it helped about 2,400 people file their taxes and receive more than $2 million in refunds, according to the college.
