Gas prices take another dip, falling below $2 in Miami area
The price for a gallon of gas in the Miami area dropped more than 4 cents last week. The average in the region is $1.97.
“As the Northeast digs out from the brutal blizzard Jonas, commodities markets are attempting to dig themselves out of their recent hole,” said Will Speer, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, which surveyed 1,600 outlets in the Miami area.
For perspective on the falling prices, prices in the region are more than 19 cents lower than a year ago and more than 15 cents lower than a month ago.
In Florida, the average price per gallon is $1.86. Nationally, it’s $1.83.
“Oil prices dropped like a rock last week, and took gas prices with them,” said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.
And they might keep going down. Analysts said prices could drop another 5 to 10 cents.
