AT&T expands its GigaPower Internet service
AT&T on Monday launched its ultra-fast Internet service, U-verse with AT&T GigaPower, to residential and small business customers in parts of Coral Gables, Homestead, Miami Gardens, Parkland. and parts of North Miami.
GigaPower, which offers Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second, is already available in parts of Coconut Creek, Davie, Doral, Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah, Hollywood, Miami, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach and surrounding communities. With that speed, customers can download 25 songs in less than 1 second or a TV show in 3 seconds, and the service is symmetrical so upload speeds are the same as download speeds. It appeals to customers who use the cloud, videoconference, stream videos and music and play online games. The service starts at $110 a month, and bundles with TV and voice are available.
AT&T kicked off its GigaPower service in Austin, Texas, and began expanding in 2014, launching in parts of South Florida in June. It is available in 18 metros today, and is part of a wave of super-fast Internet services being offered around the country by companies including Comcast, Google and Atlantic Broadband.
