AT&T lowers prices for ultra-fast Internet service

Three months after its launch of ultra high-speed Internet service in South Florida, AT&T has lowered prices and increased speeds for new and current U-verse with AT&T GigaPower customers in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.

Speeds up to 1-gigabit-per-second on the AT&T GigaPower network will now start at $110 a month, down from $120 a month, AT&T said. Customers currently subscribing to U-verse with AT&T GigaPower will see the new lower price on their next bill.

Additionally, existing 100Mbps customers will also see their Internet speeds upgraded to up to 300Mbps automatically by Oct. 15 and it will be $80 a month, down from $90, AT&T said.

In a race for speed that has competitive carriers offering faster and faster service, AT&T launched its GigaPower service in parts of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah, Hollywood and surrounding communities at the end of June. Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second can significantly improve the user experience connecting to the cloud, doing a videoconference, streaming videos and music and playing online games.
