7-Eleven adds delivery service through Postmates
Need a Slurpee and need it now? Even 7-Eleven is joining the on-demand economy, announcing that 17 Miami stores have partnered with Postmates, the San Francisco-based tech company that began servicing the Miami area with deliveries a year ago.
“The program works well for us because it appeals to our customers who are more on-the-go, connected 24/7 and prefer fast-paced, urban living,” said Raja Doddala, 7-Eleven’s VP of innovation, adding that “Postmates has figured out how to keep the Slurpee drinks cold and the Big Bites hot.”
After successful pilot launches in San Francisco and Austin, 7-Eleven is adding 233 stores in Miami, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angles and New York City to the Postmates partnership. After a few taps on the app, Postmates said it can get an order to you in 35 minutes or less. You might want to order more than a Slurpee though: Postmates charges a minimum $5 delivery fee plus a 9 percent commission on the items purchased.
