A chilly new South Beach venue that has been years in the making is scheduled for a soft opening this weekend.

Drinkhouse Fire & Ice, which includes a 23-degree ice bar and a much warmer lounge, is set to open Saturday. Some work is still underway, but the bar is expected to be fully complete in time for an invitation-only grand opening event Oct. 1.

Operators started moving into the space at 1672 Collins Ave. in July.

The sub-freezing portion of the bar features 100,000 pounds of ice making up the walls and decor. Coats and gloves are provided, and time in the Ice Bar is limited to 45 minutes at a cost of $17 for entry or $34 for a package that includes two drinks.
