SeaLand, an ocean freight shipping company, will open its corporate headquarters at Huntington Centre in Miramar, Governor Rick Scott announced on Friday. The shipping company will create 65 jobs and make a capital investment of $350,000.
In January of 2014, Maersk Line, the ocean transportation company, which is a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, announced the formation of a regional, containerized shipping company – SeaLand – dedicated to the intra-Americas market.
SeaLand will have sales and support personnel positioned in North, Central and South America, as well as in the Caribbean. The Miramar headquarters will act as the main hub for the business, SeaLand said. The company will occupy 13,000 square feet of space, in a lease arranged by Taylor & Mathis. The building is owned by Met Life.
