Rodents cut off coffee, soda and new food at a Broward convenience store
Rodent poop and a dead rodent caused new food delivery to be cut at a Coral Springs convenience store last week, three weeks after inspectors shut down the coffee and soda stations.
“If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next scheduled inspection, a Stop Sale Order of all foods will be issued,” said Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services inspector Timothy O’Neil in Wednesday’s inspection of the Citgo Food Mart, 10380 Royal Palm Rd.

According to Wednesday’s inspection, the warnings of a May 14 inspection weren’t heeded at the station owned by Stores Management, LLC, whose officers are Alloudin Bhullar and Nawshad Chowdhury.
In May, Inspector O’Neil saw “fresh rodent droppings (more than 100) found under the frozen soda machine, under the soda machine, and under the coffee bar” as well as in the “processing room, on the floors, along walls, under the three-compartment sink and throughout the room.”
O’Neill also saw pieces of rodent regularity “in cabinets under the coffee bar, next to the single use lids” and, in the backroom, “in boxes of single use cups on a shelf, near the ceiling.”

Stop Use Orders were dropped on open food processing, the hot foods case, the hot food rollers, the three-compartment sink, frozen soda dispenser, coffee bar, soda machine and cold coffee machine. Also, the inspection included this warning:
“If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next inspection, a Stop Use Order will be issued on all receiving areas of the establishment and the establishment will no longer be allowed to receive additional food items...”
And, so it was Wednesday, after O’Neill saw a “dead rodent in a trap under the three-compartment sink in the backroom” and “fresh rodent droppings count in cabinets under various fountain drink dispensers and the coffee bar.”
