Walmart expands remodeling of stores. Check where in South Florida

Walmart has announced the next batch of Florida stores — 58 total — that it plans to remodel in 2026.

Among the stores are a couple in South Florida that were on last summer’s list that were not completed as planned in 2025. One of those is near Miami, the Walmart Supercenter at 3200 NW 79th St. The other is in Broward, the Hollywood Walmart Supercenter at 301 S. State Road 7.

The spruce-ups are part of the Arkansas-based retailer’s ongoing plans to upgrade about 650 of its more than 4,600 stores nationwide.

Florida listed remodel plans for 34 of its stores by the end of 2025, including eight in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Aside from the two returning on the 2026 to-do list, most were completed. These include the store on Southwest Eighth Street in Miami’s Little Havana nand the Homestead store at 1499 S. Dixie Hwy.

The upgrades focus on store layouts, including more attention-grabbing signs and displays to better showcase merchandise. Expanded departments. Also planned are wider pharmacy aisles with new private screening rooms and checkout areas.

Walmart has also partnered with Alphabet’s Wing drone delivery company to launch a service in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston. The companies are eyeing Miami, Orlando and Tampa, along with Los Angeles, Cincinnati and California’s Bay Area as cities in the next wave of drone deliveries for items like last-minute groceries and over-the-counter medicine. Launch dates haven’t been released.

Tweaks expanding Walmart’s online pickup and delivery areas at the refurbished locations are also part of the remodeling project.

“We’re making shopping easier, whether customers are walking the aisles, picking up an order on the go, or having essentials delivered when life gets busy,” Nick Berkeley, Walmart’s senior vice president for the Southeast Business Unit, said in a statement,

Walmart is experimenting with a “rapid remodel process” to keep parts of the stores open during the work instead of stretching a remodel over several months. A store under a remodeling will temporarily close its main sales floor for four weeks and keep the pharmacies and fuel stations open.

The stores were chosen in part because there are other Walmart locations nearby, according to the company’s corporate office.
