Gas prices in Miami and across Florida hit $4 a gallon this week — and have been surging since.
Prices on Friday, April 3, are up by double digits as drivers prepare to hit the road for Easter weekend.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in the state on Friday was $4.22, a 27-cent jump since Monday. The Miami-area also saw a jump on Friday to $4.15.
The average price in Miami and Florida crossed the $4 boundary on Tuesday for the first time in three years. Fort Lauderdale and the West Palm Beach area hit $4 a gallon earlier.
Here’s a breakdown on where prices stand:
Gas prices in South Florida
Miami-Dade: The average price: $4.15 on Friday, an increase from $3.93 on Monday, according to AAA.
Fort Lauderdale: $4.25, an increase from $4.01.
West Palm Beach/Boca Raton: $4.35, an increase from $4.12.
Florida price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida on Friday, according to AAA, is $4.22, up from $3.95 Monday.
U.S. price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas across the country on Friday, according to AAA, was $4.09, up from $3.99 Monday.
