It’s now $4 a gallon. Gas prices increase in Miami and across Florida
Gas prices in Miami and across Florida surged past $4 a gallon on Tuesday as tensions and uncertainties continue in the Middle East.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in the state on Tuesday was $4.12, a jump from Monday’s price of $3.95. The Miami-area also saw a jump past the $4 mark, with an average price of $4.03.
The average price across the country also registered at $4 a gallon on Tuesday for the first time in three years
The Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton/West Palm Beach areas already ticked past $4 a gallon on Monday.
“Gasoline and diesel prices continue to climb to multi-year highs as the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz curtails the flow of millions of barrels of crude oil each day,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at fuel-tracking service GasBuddy.
Here’s a breakdown on where prices stand:
Gas prices in South Florida
Miami-Dade: The average price: $4.03 on Tuesday, an increase from $3.93 on Monday, according to AAA.
Fort Lauderdale: $4.16, an increase from $4.01.
West Palm Beach/Boca Raton: $4.26, an increase from $4.12.
Florida price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida on Tuesday, according to AAA, is $41.2, uo from $3.95 Monday.
U.S. price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas across the country on Tuesday, according to AAA, was $4.01, up from $3.99 Monday.
