Where is Publix opening next? Check out new stores coming to South Florida

Publix is expanding so rapidly you might want to check your backyard to see if one sprouted next to your swing set.

If it hasn’t, one’s likely nearby.

Last March, the Lakeland-based supermarket chain had 1,395 stores in eight states, including 875 in Florida.

This March, the numbers jumped to 1,461 nationally and 906 in its home state.

And more grocery stores are on the way through new builds or rebuilds.

In January, the 40-year-old Palms at Town & Country Publix was closed for demolition and is expected to open at the shopping center with a larger footprint in a couple of years.

Banners draping some empty shelves inside the Palms at Town & Country mall on Jan. 10, 2026, alert customers that this store is closing on Jan. 17. A new one will be built in its place, Publix says.

Publix also plans to demolish its 39,795-square-foot store anchoring the Doral Park shopping center at 9755 NW 41st St. Publix owns the center, which opened in 1987, and envisions a new 53,951-square-foot supermarket on the site.

A new 30,000-square-foot store, with an adjacent liquor store, is coming this year to the Fort Lauderdale area at the West Broward Shopping Center at 3901 W. Broward Blvd., near Plantation, Publix spokeswoman Lindsey Willis confirmed. Details will be released soon on an opening date.

Willis also confirmed that a 55,000-square-foot Publix will serve as an anchor of a seven-acre redevelopment of 11380 Biscayne Blvd. The store will feature two levels of parking above the ground-floor shopping space.

Palm Beach Gardens-based developer Ram Realty plans 417 apartments across an eight-story building on the site in the Biscayne Shores neighborhood of North Miami that previously was home to the Biscayne Breeze Mobile Park.

A rezoning request to convert the parcel of land at 11320, 11340 and 11380 Biscayne Blvd. for mixed use to accommodate the residences and 55,000 square feet of commercial space, which would include the Publix, was originally filed with Miami-Dade County in 2024 and approved in December 2025.

New April Publix openings

Here are the new Publix Florida stores opening soon in April:

  • Publix at Seven Hills, 160 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill in Hernando County. Opening April 2. The 48,387-square foot-store will have an adjacent liquor store.
  • The Shoppes at Country Club, 4267 Dundee Rd., Winter Haven in Polk County. The 46,791-square-foot store will have an adjacent liquor store.
