What’s in the burning Miami-Dade warehouse? Food, wood, pajamas and more

The Northwest Miami-Dade warehouse that burned Thursday and into Friday contained a plethora of commercial and retail goods, some of which could be bought at stores such as Publix, Walmart and Macy’s.

Celsius drinks, construction equipment, Fruit of the Loom pajamas — if you can buy it for your home or business, there was likely at least one pallet of it in the 327,500-square-foot warehouse at 20600 NW 47th Ave.

The warehouse was scheduled to host the first of the year’s four scheduled Miami International Trade Marts, “The Mart of Miami,” trade shows on April 19-21. For the last several years, businesses have used the show to sell retailers everything from kitchen utensils to puzzles.

While the state Division of Corporations website lists 29 active companies operating at 20600 NW 47th Ave., much of the warehouse was occupied by Global Warehouse Solutions, a third-party logistics provider (3PL).

“Instead of handling warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and fulfillment in-house, businesses partner with a 3PL provider to manage these critical tasks,” the Global website explains.

Global’s Instagram account shows employees packing food products, moving large pallets of boxes by forklift onto and off trucks and, generally, handling product movement. One video shows equipment used by Otis Worldwide, long the world’s dominant elevator company. Another shows enough Fruit of the Loom men’s pajamas to fill a Target section.

State records say Global is run by managers Yeschack Daniel, Tal Daniel and Daniel Daniel. Of the 29 companies officially operating there, 27 have at least one member of the Daniel family listed as an officer.

Daniel family members didn’t respond Thursday to calls and emails from the Miami Herald seeking comment and information about the warehouse.

Miami-Dade property records say the state owns the warehouse and the 2.3 million-square-foot property on which it sits.
