Hitting the road for Thanksgiving? Gas is up double digits in Florida. See prices
If you’re traveling during Thanksgiving week, you’ll want to know this: Gas prices have shot up by double digits in Florida since last week, and have exceeded $3 a gallon again.
Monday morning’s state average is $3.09 a gallon, according to AAA. That’s an 18-cent jump from the start of last week.
But the jump could be followed later this week by a decline, a yo-yo pattern drivers have been seeing for months in Florida.
“Drivers could see prices ease as they hit the road for Thanksgiving,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “With pump prices matching last year’s holiday, even a small drop would give travelers extra savings compared to 2024.”

What the experts are saying
▪ Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy: “Ahead of the peak of Thanksgiving travel, the national average has remained relatively steady, holding close to where it’s been for the last few weeks. With refinery maintenance wrapping up, we’re likely to see more relief soon, particularly in the Great Lakes and West Coast regions. While Washington and Oregon may still see issues related to the Olympic pipeline shutdown, the broader outlook is promising — especially with oil prices dipping below $60 per barrel. Many states could begin to see further declines in the weeks ahead, just in time for the holidays.”
