Is Publix closed? Sedano’s? Buses running? See what’s operating on Thanksgiving
Most business and public services are closed on Thanksgiving. But some supermarkets are open to help on a holiday based around eating.
So, if someone happens to eat all the dinner rolls during the noon NFL game, you’ll have time for a run to get more. You just won’t be doing it at Publix, Walmart or Costco.
Here’s a look at what’s open, closed, running and not on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 27:
Supermarkets
Publix: Closed.
Winn-Dixie: Closed.
Fresco y Mas: Closed.
Walmart Neighborhood Market: Closed.
Sedano’s: Open until 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Presidente Supermarket: Open; check the hours of your favorite location.
Milam’s Markets: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Aldi: Closed.
The Fresh Market: Open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Whole Foods Market: Open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Trader Joe’s: Closed.
Price Choice Supermarket: All locations open; check with your favorite for hours.
Big-box stores
Walmart: Closed Thanksgiving Day, open at 6 a.m. Friday.
Costco: Closed Thanksgiving Day.
BJ’s Wholesale Club: Closed on Thanksgiving Day, open at 7 a.m. Friday.
Target: Closed on Thanksgiving Day, open at 6 a.m. Friday.
Chain pharmacies
Walgreens: Most stores closed; 24-hour locations remain open for essential pharmacy services.
CVS/Navarro: CVS stores will be open, but check the hours of your location. Some pharmacies will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Aventura Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Brickell City Centre: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Broward Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Coral Square Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Dadeland Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Dolphin Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
- The Falls: Closed Thanksgiving Day. Black Friday: 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

Mass transit
Miami-Dade: Metrobus, Metrorail, Metromover and MetroConnect will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day and a regular schedule on Friday. There will be no MetroLink service. STS trips can be reserved or canceled at 305-871-1111.
Broward: Broward County Transit will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, but without Express or Breeze bus service. For trip planning help for buses and paratransit TOPS services, call 954-357-8400 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Broward Main Terminal, 101 NW First Ave., and Lauderhill Transit Center, on North State Road 7, will have staff from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Tri-Rail: Commuter train operating on a weekend/holiday schedule.
Garbage
Miami-Dade: Normal Thursday waste and recycling collection will happen on Thanksgiving Day. All county disposal facilities will operate during regular hours on the holiday.
Miami: Regular service.
Broward County: Regular service.
Fort Lauderdale: Regular pickups.
Post office branches will be closed. No mail or package delivery other than Priority Mail Express.
Stock markets
New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ: Closed Thanksgiving Day, open until 1 p.m. Nov. 28.
County Offices, schools, courts
Miami-Dade: Closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 28.
Broward: Closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 28.
Libraries
Miami-Dade: Branches will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29.
Broward: Branches will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
