Publix hosting a Miami pop-up and free tastings. See more deals at other stores
Publix has a lot going on this week.
First, a new Riviera Plaza store at 1542 S. Dixie Hwy., near the University of Miami, opened Thursday. It’s just down the block from the Coral Gables Monza Avenue store that’s been around since the 1960s.
The supermarket chain also is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Pop Up at Miami’s Underline Friday and another round of freebie tastings at all of its stores Saturday pegged to the Lakeland-based company’s 95th anniversary.
And there are other BOGOs and deals at other neighborhood supermarkets, too, including Winn-Dixie, Whole Foods Market and Milam’s Market.
Here are highlights:
Publix deals
Publix BOGOs are available to all customers. The weekly sales run Thursday-Oct. 1.
- Campbell’s Chunky Soup BOGO. Savings: Up to $3.45.
- Stouffer’s Classics or Lean Cuisine Entrée. Three for $10.

Publix Hispanic Heritage Month Pop-Up
Publix promotes Hispanic Heritage Month and its The Underline store at 700 SW First Ave. in Miami with a pop-up from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.
The pop-up offers free food and drinks samples, including lemonade, cafecito, café con leche, guava pastries “and even Cubanitos,” said Publix spokeswoman Lindsey Willis. There’s also a build your own bouquet section at this event.
Publix Tastings event
Publix celebrates the 95th anniversary of its founding and the birthday of its founder, George Jenkins (he was born Sept. 29, 1907, so he’d be 118) with one of its free tasting events from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at all of its stores.
The theme for this one? History. Think modern twists on Jenkins’ Southern favorites from each department.
Here’s what you can nibble on and the reasoning for the choice, according to Publix:
- Bakery: Mini Vanilla cupcakes, inspired by Jenkins’ fondness for a sweet treat.
- Deli: Popcorn Chicken, in honor of one of his favorite Southern foods.
- Grocery: Southern Banana Pudding Ice Cream, incorporates the founder’s love for fruit and the South.
- Meat: Brown Sugar-Glazed Honey-Cured Ham, another Southern favorite.
- Produce: Pecan Pralines, because Jenkins loved mixed nuts.
Winn-Dixie deals
BOGOs are available to Winn-Dixie Rewards Program members. You can sign up for free online or download the app. The program offers points that can be applied to purchases.
