Gas prices are down again in Florida. A week after a double-digit increase, drivers will find a double-digit decrease.

As of Monday, July 14, the cost of gas is down by 14 cents a gallon in the state, including South Florida. Prices in the Miami area are nearly a penny higher from a month ago and stand 58 cents lower than a year ago.

Most areas in Florida are under $3 a gallon to start the week.

“Florida drivers may feel some relief from the recent downturn at the pump, but that break may not last much longer,” said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesperson. “Gas prices in Florida often follow a pattern of falling for about 10 days, then spiking by as much as 20 cents. With oil and gasoline futures climbing again, it’s likely we’ll see upward pressure on retail prices in the coming days.”

North Florida remains the cheapest to get gas in the state. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas.

What the experts are saying

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy: “With oil prices posting a modest uptick last week, the national average price of gasoline also inched slightly higher, with just over half of U.S. states seeing increases, while nearly two dozen saw declines. As we approach the midpoint of the summer driving season, gasoline inventories remain just below average, while diesel inventories are considerably tighter — keeping upward pressure on diesel prices. While renewed tariff discussions could weigh on oil markets due to concerns about economic growth, absent any major developments, we expect the national average to remain rangebound in the low-$3 per gallon area, where it has spent much of the summer.”
