Gas prices are down in South Florida. See what it costs to pump in your area

The price of gas is down in South Florida after several weeks of rising prices at the pump.

In Miami, the average is $3.01 a gallon, down nearly 9 cents from a week ago. South Florida gas prices are nearly a penny more than a month ago but nearly 55 cents lower than a year ago.

The average prices in Florida also dropped from last week and could go even lower.

“The recent drop in crude oil prices now appear to be impacting prices at the pump,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA - The Auto Club Group. “The state average could drift back down near the $3 per gallon threshold this week.”

Several North Florida areas are averaging less than $3 a gallon as the region remains the cheapest to get gas in the state, in some places about 20 cents cents less per gallon than South Florida. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas for gas.

What the experts are saying

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy: “After oil’s sharp drop over the last couple of weeks— driven by concerns over the impact of U.S. tariffs and OPEC+ restoring production faster than expected— gasoline prices have posted a notable weekly decline, with nearly every state seeing prices fall. While I do expect gas prices to continue trending lower, any abrupt change in the current tariff situation could eventually bring the decline to a halt. For now, the good news is that gas prices typically reach their yearly peak around April 10, so we may have already witnessed ‘peak pain’ at the pump for 2025. As refiners near the end of seasonal maintenance and supply begins to rise — and with the changeover to summer gasoline nearly complete — it’s increasingly likely that gas prices have already hit their high for the year.”
