Gas prices in Florida are rising after a plunge. Where’s the cheapest place to pump?

Gas prices in Florida are like a yo-yo.

Down last week. Up this week.

Prices across the state increased through the week and then declined over the weekend. On Monday, Nov. 11, Florida gas is averaging 10 cents a gallon more over last Monday, according to AAA.

In the Miami area, gas went up 6 1/2 cents a gallon. That’s still about a penny a gallon less than a month ago and nearly 15 cents cheaper than a year ago.

Nationally, gas prices declined, according to GasBuddy.

Several North Florida areas are averaging less than $2.90 a gallon as the region remains the cheapest to get gas in the state, in some places about 20 cents less per gallon than South Florida. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas for gas.

Here’s what to know if you’re commuting or traveling in Florida:

What the experts are saying

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy: “While the election has come and gone, gas prices have stayed the course, with the national average price of gasoline declining for a fourth consecutive week as seasonal demand weakens and Americans begin to take refuge from falling temperatures. While some may be surprised by the declines—some 28 states have average gas prices below $3 per gallon—this was anticipated in our annual Fuel Outlook from last December. Looking back at our outlook provides insight into the current drop and what we expect next. With the median U.S. gas price now at $2.95 per gallon, the lowest since 2021, it appears to be just a matter of time before the national average falls below $3 per gallon for the first time since May 2021, something we’ve already seen for diesel prices, which many Americans will be thankful for as we get closer to Thanksgiving.”

How to find cheap gas near you

There’s an app to help: The GasBuddy app was built to show motorists prices around them and a fuel tracker can update users on stations that have or don’t have fuel based on supply changes.
