Here’s a look at what’s happening:

The Falls

Eight new stores are coming to The Falls. A “refresh” of the South Miami-Dade mall will be finished in July. Shoppers will see new lighting, handrails and other cosmetic tweaks.

Midway Crossings

Some of us remember it as the Midway Mall. Others as Mall of the Americas. Now, it’s Midway Crossings, and two big pieces are being added.

Construction is wrapping up on Aldi, a growing grocery chain, and Micro Center, a national tech center.

No plans have been released on any renovations inside the mall, which opened in 1970 and has had several glow-ups since.

Mall at 163rd Street

Will the Mall at 163rd Street be reinvented? The owners have a plan. They are working on a $150 million makeover that would turn the moribund mall into apartments, amusement areas and new shops. The partners plan on renovating the shopping center and bringing in experiential retail, medical services, and reviving the food court. The goal: Make it a destination.

Miami International Mall

The coming Elev8 Fun center inside Miami International Mall set for early 2025 will feature plenty of video games like “Tomb Raider” but these are video games on steroids in keeping with the latest trends.

Miami International Mall, a nearly 42-year-old, 1.1 million-square-foot shopping center in Doral, is adding Elev8 Fun. When the community hub is finished in 2025, Elev8 Fun will fill 110,000 square feet with more than 100 arcade games, 12 bowling lanes, a go-kart track, mini-golf, a fitness center and a restaurant. Elev8 Fun will take the space of a Kohl’s department store.

Dadeland Mall

New stores are on the way or have recently opened at Dadeland Mall in Kendall.

Brickell City Centre

The Brickell complex, which oepned in 2016, signed a lease with the global fashion retailer H&M to open a multi-level, 25,000-square-foot anchor store. H&M in late 2024.
