Is Monday a holiday? What’s open and closed? What to know about stores, malls, services
It’s Monday, Dec. 26. Do you know what that means?
It’s the first day of Kwanzaa, the last day of Hanukkah, Boxing Day, federally recognized Christmas and National Gift Return Day.
Here’s a rundown of things to know:
Federal holiday
Monday is a government holiday because Christmas Day was Sunday. That means:
▪ The post office is closed and no mail will be delivered.
▪ City and County Hall are closed, and so are state offices.
▪ Public school students begin their two-week winter break in South Florida.
▪ The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ are closed.
▪ Most banks also are closed.
▪ State and federal courts are closed.
▪ Libraries are closed in Miami-Dade and Broward, but online services are open as usual.
