Former banking executive Ramiro Ortiz has been appointed chief executive officer of Doral-based BattleFrog LLC, an obstacle course race series inspired by Navy SEALs. Ortiz previously was a business consultant to the BattleFrog board of directors and, in that role, performed a thorough analysis of the organization’s operations.
After a career as president of two Florida banks and many sports-related appointments, Ortiz joined BattleFrog in March 2015. During his career, he has promoted over 50 sporting events and is a member of the prestigious Orange Bowl Committee. He has served as chairman of the Miami local organizing committee for the Sunshine State Games. He was appointed chairman of the Sports Council of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Ortiz is also a member of the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame as a boxing historian.
“My main goal is to grow BattleFrog to become the leader in the world of obstacle course racing,” said Ortiz, who succeeds Don Mann in the position, in a statement Monday. “We have exciting plans for the future and will soon be announcing our 2016 calendar of events.”
