Workshop in Miami Beach to address migration to ‘Chip cards’

A year from now, all merchants unable to accept “Chip cards” will be liable for counterfeit losses. A free workshop next week can help businesses prepare as they migrate to the advanced chip secure technology.

An EMV Chip Forum, put on by the Miami Beach Chamber, the city of Miami Beach, and E Chip Miami will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1700 Convention Center Dr., Floor 3. The workshop will provide businesses with the knowledge and resources to make the change from vulnerable magnetic stripe technology to the new secure, dynamic and versatile chip technology. For more information, contact the chamber at 305-674-1300.

EMV is an acronym for Europay Mastercard Visa and is a trademarked chip-based technology with global acceptance standards.
