Miami developer Moishe Mana has broken ground on what he is calling the Nikola Tesla Innovation Hub, part of his planned Flagler District downtown.

The hub, a 13-floor 136,000 square foot office complex at 155 S. Miami Ave at Southeast 2nd Street, is slated to be completed at the end of 2021, with occupancy beginning in the first quarter of 2022. It was not immediately clear whether the Hub had any confirmed tenants, including one previously mentioned, the Miami International University of Art & Design. Mana declined to comment; a representative for the University did not respond to a request for comment.

Mana confirmed the groundbreaking in a presentation Tuesday, as he hopes to capitalize on the Miami tech fervor that has convulsed the city for the past couple of months. The hub has no connection with the auto maker.

Miami-Dade County property records show Mana purchased the South Miami Avenue property in 2015 for $32 million. He has spent at least $350 million on some four-dozen properties downtown.
