This bassinet now has been recalled twice, once for each baby-endangering flaw
Bassinets shouldn’t have spaces into which the infant can fall. That’s just one of the problems that caused DaVinci to recall about 3,290 of its Bailey model bassinets in the United States and Canada.
The exact problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The bassinet’s mattress support can become disengaged, posing fall and entrapment hazards to babies..”
Actually, that’s just the most recent problem. Back in December, DaVinci recalled the same bassinet because “the bassinet’s support legs can break, posing a fall hazard to babies.”
The company has heard of the mattress support disengaging 13 times and the bassinet legs breaking 19 times.
Despite two basic safety problems with a product meant to hold newborns, DaVinci officially is offering only repair in the form of free repair kits for the mattress support and the legs.
“In the meantime, parents are urged to find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards,” both recall notices say.
You can reach DaVinci via the website, by email at bailey@milliondollarbaby.zendesk.com and by phone at 833-932-0208, Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m., Eastern time.
