Wondering why your Comcast bill seems higher? Cable prices going up during holidays
Comcast is bringing no gifts this holiday season.
Unless a price hike is your idea of Christmas cheer.
The company is raising prices for cable and internet. The new prices have already gone into effect, under the radar, because Comcast bills customers a month in advance. Customers who are receiving Comcast services through a promotional offer will not be affected by the change.
Here are the changes you could be seeing:
▪ Broadcast TV fee is increasing to $14.95 a month
▪ Limited Basic TV service will increase by $5 a month
▪ All Internet service tiers will increase by $3 a month
There are other changes, but those depend on what services customers subscribe to, Comcast said in a statement.
“Rising programming costs — most notably for broadcast TV and sports — continue to be the biggest factors driving price increases for all content distributors and their customers,” the statement read.
With cable prices on the rise, ditching cable altogether has become an option for customers as some streaming services rival the prices of cable.
Looking to stream shows but also watch a few sports games on ESPN or keep up with the newest show on FOX? Hulu + Live TV does that for $60.99 per month.
Hulu also gives the option to add on premium channels, like HBO and Showtime, for an added monthly charge.
Don’t need live TV? Netflix’s premium plan comes out to $15.99 per month.
Add in Disney+ for $6.99 a month, and packaging all three services can land you at around $100 to $120, roughly what Comcast charges for cable.
