Costa shrinking local deployment, leaving Miami for 2015
Costa Cruises will scale down its presence in South Florida for the coming winter cruise season — and depart from a different port.
The Italian cruise line, part of Doral-based Carnival Corp., said it will base one ship, Costa Deliziosa, at Port Everglades for winter of 2015-16. The vessel carries 2,260 passengers at double occupancy.
During the season that just ended, the Italian brand had two ships sailing from Miami: the 2,260-passenger Costa Luminosa and Costa Mediterranea, which carries 2,114 guests.
Costa did not give a reason for the deployment changes.
Starting in December, Deliziosa will sail mostly 10-night Caribbean itineraries.
