Saje Natural Wellness recalled one lot of its Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash after company testing determined it was a little too natural — it contained the bacteria pseudomonas aeruginosa.
So, the company recalled lot No. 814020, comprised of 8.5 ounce bottles sold solo and 1.7-ounce bottles sold as part of the Wee and Well Gentle Baby Care Kit. The lot number can be found on each bottle's information panel below the product SKU number (70552 for the 8.5-ounce bottles, 700561 for the smaller bottles).
"Serious pseudomonas infections usually occur in people in the hospital and/or with weakened immune systems," the Centers for Disease Control says. "Infections of the blood, pneumonia, and infections following surgery can lead to severe illness and death in these people.
"However, healthy people can also develop mild illnesses with pseudomonas aeruginosa, especially after exposure to water," the CDC says. "Ear infections, especially in children, and more generalized skin rashes may occur after exposure to inadequately chlorinated hot tubs or swimming pools. Eye infections have occasionally been reported in persons using extended-wear contact lenses."
